- Florida’s Department of Children & Families is working to make sure that all parents have a network of support. In addition to offering a free and confidential Parent Helpline, they also publish Family Development – A Caregiver’s Guide, which can be viewed or downloaded from the Department’s website. Available in English, Spanish, and Creole, the guide includes information about child development from birth through the teenage years, tips for creating a nurturing home environment and managing stress, and contact information for a variety of support resources. - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has recently introduced a new section to the SaferCar.gov website. Parents Central provides information and resources on keeping children safe “from car seats to car keys.” For new and soon-to-be parents, there are guides to choosing and using car seats and safety tips to avoid common dangers children can face in and around the car, including information on the Where’s Baby? Look Before You Lock campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of leaving children unattended in a car, particularly during warm weather. [NHTSA]
